A Vista Pop Warner Coach and Volunteer were honored at the Palomar Conference awards banquet held on December 16, 2010.

Shelli Smith was the recipient of the Junior Midget Cheer Coach of the Year award for her work with the Vista Panther Cheer Squad during the 2010 season. The Panther Cheer squad earned the right to compete at the National Cheer competition in Florida where they were awarded with the Spirit award. Shelli’s dedication to her squad and the results of her squad’s performance were the key ingredients to her receiving this award over all of the rest of the Palomar Conference Junior Midget Cheer Coaches.

Justin Lofting was also recognized as the Vista Pop Warner Volunteer of the Year for his tireless efforts on and off of the field. Justin Lofting served as the VPW Football Commissioner and as the Head Coach for the Midget Football team, the Fighting Panthers, who won the Best of the West Bowl game. In addition, Justin’s efforts and volunteerism knew no bounds as he not only led the crew who painted the field for game day but he also planted, mowed, and watered the field all year long. Justin was also key in obtaining our new scoreboard, resourcing parts and volunteers to repair our field lights, creating and resourcing volunteer and coaches for the North County Speed Camp, as well as many other VPW initiatives and events.
